Ensuring The Learning Foundry is a Good place to learn – Meet Jayne

Our recent Ofsted shows The Learning Foundry is a Good place to work, learn and be – and we couldn’t do it without the support from our staff behind the scenes.

Jayne has been one of our Governors for over a year now. After spending her whole career working in education and training, she joined our board and has been supporting us to make talent shine ever since.

An opportunity I couldn’t say no to.

“I wasn’t looking to become a Board Member but when I found out what The Learning Foundry did, and the reach they have on communities they work with, I couldn’t turn the opportunity down.

“The Learning Foundry support people in our communities who are underserved, people who get a raw deal.

“I grew up in similar situations as some of the people who come to The Learning Foundry, and I know from my own lived experience that no-one is falling over themselves to help people like me, like our learners.

“It was education and learning that helped me make better choices. And knowing TLF’s mission and purpose, there was no way I wasn’t joining their board.”

The Learning Foundry is a Good place to learn – for more reasons than our Ofsted report shows.

“Ofsted is a big tick that we are going in the right direction; but there is more to show that The Learning Foundry are a good training provider. We know we’re doing the right thing for certain when our learners are getting into jobs they love and achieving their dreams.

“Learner success is what motivates our staff at The Learning Foundry. And when our staff see our learners succeed, that’s when we know we’re doing a good job. But it’s great to see all the team’s hard work recognised.”

Learning at TLF is more than getting a qualification.

I’ve worked in big colleges and they do what they can to support their learners, but they are juggling large numbers and people get left behind.

“TLF is not small but everyone who walks through the doors there is seen. Staff make sure they see every individual and support them with what they need.

“The Learning Foundry use their strong referral network to provide the right resources to learners, signposting them to a broad range of support services – whatever that may be.

“Getting a qualification is great but it’s providing people with choices and self-belief for a better life that will help our learners succeed.”

Ofsted are looking for education providers who care about their learners.

“Our Ofsted report shows learners, parents, local businesses and other providers that people are safe at The Learning Foundry, that we care about our learners.

“A government regulatory body has given us a stamp of approval that we do a great job for our learners.”

These things don’t happen by accident.

“The team at TLF have passion, commitment and drive. These things don’t happen by accident – people at TLF work hard to make all learners’ experiences positive.

“Sometimes there are overwhelming odds against staff to deliver – whether that involves working with young people with trauma or who need additional learning support.

Alongside delivering quality education, The Learning Foundry team go above and beyond to care for and look after their learners, helping them however they can to make sure they succeed.”
