Learning made easy – Christine's story.
It’s never too late to learn something new, and after 17 years in housing, Christine took a step to invest in herself and her career by completing her Level 3 Housing and Property Management apprenticeship.
15 months later, Christine landed herself a Distinction and had a boss time on her journey with TLF. We caught up with Christine to hear more about her journey:
“The Learning Foundry is an inclusive and engaging place to learn. From day one, workshops and tasks are set out to make sure everyone gets involved, which makes such a positive difference on the environment.
“Workshops are not just listening to a teacher talk at you, the coaching is interactive and kept me interested. I got constant support from the coaches, it really helped me get back into learning.
“Everything was easy, the online learning system was simple to navigate. The Learning Foundry invested me which was so important, and not something that other training providers do. I’ve never known another training provider give the same interest, commitment and support that The Learning Foundry has.
"The information that I learnt on the course has developed my understanding and knowledge further. I learnt information that I hadn’t been taught previously, such as the foundations of housing law, policy and legislations.
“A lot of my decision making requires me to consider legislation requirements and even though I did know some of it, I know more now and can confidently make more informed decisions that I know are correct and ethical.
“I am made up to have achieved a distinction! The apprenticeship has increased my confidence and made me look at different aspects of housing differently and appreciate what my organisation does. It has helped me make more informed decisions for my customers and I’m more equipped to help other staff when they need help and are asking for information.
“The Learning Foundry was very accommodating and supportive of issues in my personal life, making sure that I was okay and giving me constant support. Claire pushed me to do my best and complete my apprenticeship, when I wanted to walk away from doing it at times.
"The Learning Foundry care so much about your mental health and wellbeing which is incredible. They show so much humanity and compassion.
“My coach, Claire, was always enthusiastic, positive and motivating, from the very first workshop, right to the end. She goes above and beyond. I could easily contact her, and she prevented any barriers to my learning.
"Claire made such a positive impact to my learning. I felt that we achieved the distinction together as I wouldn’t have got it without her.
“You do better when you have that positive rapport with someone, and Claire has that. I’m going on to do my Level 4 CIH with The Learning Foundry and I’ve already requested Claire!
“I'll never forget how supportive Claire was, you always remember who helped you out when you needed it. She took the pressure off me massively; I am so grateful for her constant support and caring approach.
“Claire has been brilliant, and I want to say a massive thank you, I couldn’t have done it without her.
“I had done so much work leading up to the End Point Assessment and I felt that the assessor put me at ease and helped me to deliver the presentation to the best of my ability. Expectations were made clear to me before the presentation began and she was positive with the feedback in the moment.
“I would absolutely recommend The Learning Foundry, definitely! I think there is always room for improvement in your career, people who have been in the housing sector for a long time massively benefit from completing this qualification.
“I feel lucky to have enjoyed and benefitted so much from my experience and I’m looking forward to coming back to The Learning Foundry to do more training!”
