James' story: My confidence has grown so much since being at The Learning Foundry
We recently caught up with James, who is currently studying his Level 1 English and Maths at The Learning Foundry.
Before starting at The Learning Foundry, I was afraid to ask for support. I went to an adult learning centre before starting at The Learning Foundry, and I didn’t feel like I had the support I needed to pass my exams. The course I’m on now is 19 weeks long and I confident that I could pass my exam.
The atmosphere is friendlier here. Everyone is supportive and people want to help me at The Learning Foundry. I find it easier to speak to people than I did before.
My confidence has grown so much since being at The Learning Foundry. I didn’t think it would be as good as it has been. Before coming here, I would have been too anxious to even come and be interviewed but The Learning Foundry has helped me build my confidence to do things I would never had dreamed of before.
This year I want to concentrate on work experience. I am about to start work experience at Merseyside Youth Association (MYA) and plan on doing more work experience at the Beatles Museum on the Albert Dock.
My goal for 2023 is to get into a work environment. I want to focus on getting my career on track. In the future I would like to be a support worker and build up to being a youth worker. I will be starting volunteering at Merseyside Youth Association as a first step to achieving this aim.
James has a bright future ahead of him. Keep smashing it!
